Planning Laser Around
a British Summer

Pigment treatments work best between October and March, so the plans that need them start in autumn.

Laser and light treatments work by heating pigment and small blood vessels, and skin that has seen the sun recently reacts more strongly to them. Treating a tan risks marks that take months to fade, so the safest time for a course is when the days are short.

Why we start in October

A course of three sessions runs four weeks apart, so starting in October finishes before the new year and leaves the skin settled long before spring. Sessions planned for February still have time to calm before the brighter months.

What to do in summer

Through the summer we keep plans to treatments that sunlight does not affect, such as skin boosters and anti-wrinkle injections, and we ask everyone on a laser plan to wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen every day, cloudy or not.

If you know you will be away in August, tell us at your consultation and we will write the plan around it.
